Public Hearing: School Improvement Plan for Richland Middle School and Birdville High School

• In 2011, Birdville High School and Richland Middle School were rated Academically Unacceptable (AU) under the state accountability system. No state accountability ratings were assigned in 2012 due to the implementation of the new STAAR assessment program and the redesign of the state accountability system which will be applied in 2013. 
  
  
• TEC Sec.39.106(e-1) After a targeted improvement plan or updated plan is submitted to the board of trustees of the school district, the board shall conduct a hearing for the purpose of:
• Notifying the public of the insufficient performance, the improvements in performance expected by the agency, and the intervention measures or sanctions that may be imposed under this subchapter if the performance does not improve within a designated period
• Solicit public comment on the targeted improvement plan or any updated plan
  
  
• According to the Texas Education Code Chapter 39, a campus rated as academically unacceptable is required to participate in specific intervention activities.  The campus, in conjunction with a campus intervention team, is required to collect and analyze data and develop a school improvement plan that addresses all performance measures not meeting the standard in the state’s accountability rating.
