(It is the responsibility of each college-bound student to research admission requirements, as each college’s requirements may differ.)
House Bill 5 (HB 5) was signed into law by Governor Perry on June 10, 2013. HB 5 dramatically revises the number of high school student assessments required for graduation as well as overall graduation plans in Texas. In the long-term, these revisions will impact the state accountability system for schools, charters and districts.
House Bill 5 (HB 5) will affect students who will graduate beginning in 2018. This affects current eighth-grade students. HB 5 gives students options they must consider when designing a personal graduation plan (PGP). With more flexibility in developing a graduation plan comes additional responsibility to meet requirements of the plan. It is important both students and parents are well-informed about the options available prior to confirming the PGP this spring.
