WILDCAT NEWS...

  • Families!  The February edition of “What’s Up, Watauga?” will be coming out in next week’s Tuesday Folders.  The dismissal map will be featured on the newsletter, but please take a few minutes and look over it here, too.  Please read the important reminders at the bottom so that we can continue to stay moving in the right direction.  (Get that?  That was like a dismissal joke…”moving in the right direction…”…dismissal…HA!)

Click the link to view the map.

  • Many of you may have seen your kiddos coming home with a recipe book and bracelet. We are taking part in a 21 Day Challenge to eat healthy snacks.  The challenge encourages the kids (and you) to get creative and  make fruit and veggie snacks. The hope is to “develop life-long healthy eating habits, one snack at a time!”

We want to encourage you to participate in this challenge as well. By doing so, you are setting a good example for your kids and starting off a healthy year for yourself, too! You can talk briefly to your kids about your  snack choices and see what creations they have made.

Below are the guidelines for your healthy snack. Don’t forget to check your portion size!

    • 200 calories or less
    • 7 g of fat or less
    • 2 g of sat fat or less
    • 2 g of fiber or more!
    • 15 g of sugar or less
    • Must contain a minimum of ½ cup fruit or vegetable per serving

I have added the link where you can find more information, download a recipe book of kid made creations, and sign up for the challenge.

Sign up between now and January 22 and participate in the challenge from January 23-February 12
